Overview

POM(Polyoxymethylene, homopolymer and copolymer acetal) is the engineering plastic produced by gas phase polymerization. They are semi-crystalline thermoplastics with high wear resistance and abrasion resistance.

POM resin contains excessive moisture, then poor appearance quality such as silver streaks, and inferior functions of molded products may result. Therefore, acetal should be dried prior to the molding process to maintain moisture content less than 0.1wt%. Recommended drying conditions are 3~6 hours at 90oC~110oC

POM can be recycled by crushing with a low speed crusher. However, damage of glassfiber caused by the concentration of the recycled products or frequency of recycling may result in degradation of physical and mechanical properties. Therefore, when using recycled reinforced-grade products, do not forget to verify the concentration of the recycled products. Minimum concentration of recycled products is desired.
